Last night was the annual Costume Institute Gala, better known as the Met Ball, and this year it paid honor to Alexander McQueen and his 19-year career.  The event hosted by Anna Wintour is a proverbial who's who of fashion as well as celebrities from film, television and music.

Typically the gowns are a little more extreme than normal red carpet gowns and pushing the boundaries of fashion norms is acceptable and encouraged.  This year my favorites actually happened to be the more basic gowns and the abundant amount of champagne and gold mixed in with structured black stood out to me as the best looks.
